Crossbite

A crossbite can occur in the front and/or the sides of the mouth when the maxillary and mandibular teeth are reversed. One or more upper teeth bite on the inside of the lower teeth causing the appearance of the "crossbite". Occurrence of this usually happens because the upper jaw is too narrow or the bottom teeth have moved to one side of the mouth. Early correction of a crossbite is recommended by the American Association of Orthodontists.
